Binding Screws: Versatile fastening systems for paper, leather and textiles

Wherever materials need to be joined securely yet aesthetically, the binding screw is the method of choice. It serves as a high-quality alternative to conventional rivets and offers the advantage that – depending on the design – it can be removed at any time. From classic loose-leaf collections and elegant menus to applications on belts and bags: our screw rivets guarantee a secure hold and a professional finish.

Two systems to meet your requirements

Depending on the intended use, we offer our Binding Screws in two different designs:

  • Version with M4 screw head: Here, the screw head and shaft are screwed together. This variant is ideal when the contents need to remain flexible – for example, for swapping pages in a menu or updating sample folders.
  • Version with press-fit head: The head is permanently pressed into the shaft (e.g. with a hammer). This connection is permanent and is perfect for products that must remain tamper-proof or permanently secured.

Easy installation without special tools

Installing our Chicago screws is incredibly simple. As the diameter of the screw shaft is 5 mm as standard, a standard office hole punch (5.5 mm hole) is sufficient to prepare the material. Simply insert the shaft, place the head on top and screw or press it in – and the flush, clean binding is complete.

Wide range of colours and lengths

To ensure your product is perfectly colour-coordinated and the binding remains exactly flush, we offer an exceptional variety:

  • Wide range of sizes: Choose from numerous shaft lengths for thin brochures or extremely thick sample catalogues.
  • Colours & materials: Whether classic nickel-plated, brass-plated, black-coated or made of coloured plastic – we have the right design.
  • Custom-made products: On request, we can manufacture special lengths or coat the screws in your chosen colours.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What shaft length do I need for my product?

The shaft length should correspond exactly to the total thickness of the materials to be bound, or be slightly shorter, so that the heads lie flush against the material and nothing wobbles.

Are plastic or metal binding screws better?

Metal binding screws are particularly robust and look very elegant. Plastic binding screws, on the other hand, are lighter, more cost-effective and available in many vibrant colours – ideal for modern promotional materials or fan-fold leaflets.

Can I also use the screws for leather goods?

Absolutely! In leatherworking, they are extremely popular as ‘Chicago screws’ for securing belt buckles or attaching bag handles, as they can withstand very high tensile forces.
