Magnetic pick-ups & magnetic collectors: Essential tools for workshops and assembly

Wherever small metal parts are handled, magnetic pick-ups are the unsung heroes of everyday life. They prevent time-consuming searching and tedious bending down by efficiently collecting screws, nails or metal shavings. At moog & langenscheidt, you will find a selection of specialised lifting tools designed both for occasional use in tight spaces and for large-scale cleaning of workshop floors.

Precision wherever you are: Rigid and flexible magnetic grippers

Depending on the application, you will need different designs to safely retrieve metal objects:

  • Flexible magnetic lifters: Equipped with a flexible “arm”, these grippers can reach even awkward corners in the engine compartment, behind control cabinets or under machinery.
  • Pick-Up Magnet with Release Mechanism: Our 770 mm long version is ideal for picking up parts from the floor. The highlight: an integrated mechanism allows the collected parts to be released without contact – cleanly and time-savingly.
  • Hand-held magnetic lifters: Compact aids for quick access directly at the workstation or in the assembly box.

Advantages of magnetic recovery

Working with a magnetic pick-up offers far more than just convenience. It increases workplace safety and conserves your resources:

  • Contact-free working: Injuries caused by sharp metal shavings or pointed nails are avoided, as the parts are held directly by the magnet.
  • Efficiency in mechanical engineering: In industrial processes, powerful magnetic lifters enable the movement and positioning of metal components without complicated gripping devices.
  • Versatility: From the home to large production halls, these tools provide valuable assistance with organisation and accident prevention.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How does the release mechanism work on the large magnetic collectors?

By operating a handle or lever, the internal magnet inside the housing is pulled away from the base plate. This causes the magnetic field on the outer surface to break, and the collected swarf or screws fall in a controlled manner into a container.

Can magnetic lifters also be used with aluminium or stainless steel?

Magnetic lifters work exclusively with ferromagnetic materials (such as iron, steel, nickel or cobalt). Most types of stainless steel and aluminium are non-magnetic and therefore cannot be picked up with these lifters.

What is the best way to look after my magnetic lifter?

Wipe the magnetic surface regularly with a cloth to remove any stubborn dust or very fine shavings. For models with mechanical parts, it is advisable to apply a drop of oil to the moving parts from time to time to ensure they continue to operate smoothly.
